after I played a while I ended up to this conclusion:it is better to play with caracters then pets and that is because:
1)you can eqiup caracters with items..and later in the game you find excelent items with excelent bonuses
2)pets are rather limited at developping
3)if you keep feeding you items to your pets you will loose that way a lot of money
3)chance to find magic items(rare,sets,uniques) is cumulative so more caracters=more items with MF to be eqiuped
4)the game is more challenging and you find more bosses and stronger monsters
5)the autospells=a boost that can't be ignored
6)the funny dialogues between them
7)quests requirements
the only minus that I have found is that you level-up a littel bit slower...but that is ballanced by the quiting&reentering in the game and killing the bosses that respawn...and of course the monsters that are stronger
(there are more to be said but if I continue this will be a guide than a tip)
