First you have to do something to call him.I saw many post that said that your magic find influnce this or that you have to drop set&uniques on the ground and just wait for him...the only thing that brings this guy out is the specific sound(like a drum) that the set&uniques items do when they drop on the ground,from a monster...so when you hear the sound and a good item has drop don't rush to press "z" and gather all the items...stay for a while(2-3 seconds) and give a chance for this guy to appear
Now you have 2 choices:just play the game and when he appears you kick his ass or if you didn't kill him and you are at the end of the game and you need the mysterious stone from him to enter the secret level,then go and search for bosses that respawn on first levels;they will drop junk uniques&sets,but you are not interested in those,just the drum sound.There is another possibility(the one that I took):in the game there are some monsters(quest bosses) that appears only one time in the game and they drop set&uniques everytime.The monster that I used was the Daemon from "A family heirloom part II" quest,you'll find him in "A small Vai'kesh Prison" just right from the "Vai'kesh forest(north)" teleport.I killed him a few times just to get a better items...and i remember that the ???(level 100) guy appeared 3 times here...the last one was fatal for him :)
So after he appeared the second part begins...killing him.Well there are some thing to know:if you hit him and he drops 3 items you can kiss him goodbye...he's gone and you'll have to wait till next time.So you will have to use strong hits like powers.I met this guy like 20 times till I killed him.I didn't spend any skill points at all in the begining because I didn't want to ruin my caracters(I wanted the perfect build from first try),so I can tell you it's almost impossible to kill him on the mercenary difficult without your powers...level 3 brutal attack and take aim worked pretty good for me.And another thing:use pause during the fight to increse the chance to get him
Somethings in the end:
- after you kill him he will respawn,so it doesn't matter when you kick his ass...just kill him when you have the oportunity and don't wait till the end of the game
- I noticed that he appeard more often in the mercenary difficulty then in veteran for example where I met him only 3 or 4 times
- he drops items according to your level,so if you return from vet to mercenary and kill him you can get some good rares.I had some rares that were better that some set or uniques I had at that time...so this guy could drop interesting stuff
- if you are already in veteran and you didn't kill him in mercenary you can return and do that
