+ % find magic items & gold dropped ?'s 

How do these bonuses work-
1) affect the whole party cumulative
2) the lead character's bonuses are used only
3) whoever makes the kill/opens the chest bonus is used

In the previous Dungeon Siege I mainly played multi-player and being so only played with one character (you can't use your entire party in MP). The magic item % was a lot easier to manage then since you got what you expected.

Your questions are actually very good questions and I'd love someone to step forward and if possible tell us how DS1 handled this calculation.

what would be nice is if it were in diablo II in MP and SP that u could stack your merc and yourself with + to MF items and if your merc got the kill then you got his + yours magic find. would be awesome if it worked liked this. if other party members other than your "main" in SP mode, then you get the "secondary char" that killed it or opened chest + your "main" characters MF

Think it is cumulative for the party tbh, but how it exactly works i don't know :)

Got a theory though, and this is just a theory. Could be some math beind it, like if you have a party of 4 and they in total have a %mf of 381% it would be calculated like this [381%mf / 4 = 92,25% mf ]... total party mf % divided by the number of party members. But again it's only a theory

well personally i believe its all bunched together. your total %mf is for everyone no matter who kills. its either that or %mf is only determined by who kills the monster and the other party members MF doesn't even come into play. either way + to mf is always good =D

Iamgine a 6 party, and always taking care of who gets the kill....
No way, Jose ! It's all together...so keep playing and dont worry....
I bet there are good places of MF.....

The best I can tell so far is that it's based on the individual scoring the killing hit.
The only way I could think of to test it was to kill a ton of stuff with the main character at 0% FMI, load the game, and repeat with him at around 540%ish. The difference, as expected, was pretty good.
Then I reloaded the game again and took a party out and let them get the killing hits with MC at insane FMI again with no one else in the party having any. It was pretty close to the original run with no FMI. So the answer is either the killing character or it's averaged among the group.
I have noticed the donkey aura seems to operate at 0% modification regardless of what's done.
I'll test a bit more today after work and see if I can figure out if it's killer or averaged.

and all this time I though the MF is cumulative. I’ll test is myself, but with the party. I’ll give every items with mf to my and put them to wait me in back so I’ll do all the killing, then I’ll equip them with all the mf and none for me, but I’ll still do the killing alone. This way the party will have the same mf but differently distributed. I’m curious what the result will be…

I'm getting diddlely. I made 3 magic find rings, one totaling 110% chance to find magic items and the other 2 105%. TOOK FOREVER TO GET THE JEWELS. I did 3 comparison runs in upper saramoths horns and found that the 3 rings (one per party member) on found on average 2 more unique or set items then when they were off.
